  7. troops in the fight against civil rights. Last week the bureau
  8. announced a plan to end what 300 of its black agents had charged
  9. was lingering bias in the way promotions and fast-track
  10. assignments are made. The new rules avert a threatened lawsuit.

  14.     Channel One, a classroom newscast produced by Whittle
  15. Communications, has drawn fire for mixing commercials with
  16. current events. A Whittle-funded study has found that with or
  17. without ads, the show isn't having much impact. Students who
  18. watch the newscast score little better on current-events tests
  19. than do nonwatchers.
